With less than two days to the gubernatorial election, Host Communities Of Oil And Gas Facilities in the state have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
The five ethnic nationalities that make up HOSCOM in the state, converged on the Isoko Unity Hall, Oleh to endorse the Governor for the election.
The Host Communities of Nigeria, Delta State chapter was established to ensure fairness and equity in the development of oil producing areas, and is known to be very influential in the politics of the state.
Citing reasons for the endorsement of Governor Okowa for a second term in office, the Chairman of the body, Senior Evangelist Gabriel Isibeluo, said the Governor had fulfilled over ninety percent of the promises made to them in 2015.
He gave an assurance that HOSTCOM would be actively involved in the elections by fully mobilising its members for the exercise, pointing out that Governor Okowa deserved a second term to enable him complete his good works.
Governor Okowa in his remarks thanked HOSTCOM for their support in the 2015 gubernatorial election which brought him to office and commended their efforts at the sustenance of peace which had increased the quantum of oil being exported from the state.
He said approval had been given for HOSTCOM to monitor all projects executed in their communities by the state government through the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC to ensure standards.
The President General of the Isoko Development Union, Chief Iduh Amadhe and Housing Commissioner, Architect Joseph Ogeh, said with the endorsement of the re-election of Governor Okowa by HOSTCOM the coast was clear for a convincing win for the PDP in the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.
