The reelection bid of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has recorded a boost with key unions in the transport sector promising to mobilise their members to secure convincing victory for him at the polls.

The state chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Chief Ifeanyi Obi and the chairman of the Delta State Tricycle and Motorcycle Operators Association of Nigeria, made the promise during a meeting with the Governor in Asaba.

Chief Obi and Chief Nzete assured the Governor that members of the unions would deliver more votes for the PDP in the gubernatorial election than they did in the just conducted Presidential election.

They thanked the Governor for the release of over one hundred and eighty million naira for the purchase of tricycles and motorcycles for sale to Deltans at affordable rates as well as other empowerment programmes of government.

The Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, who is saddled with the responsibility of coordinating the focused groups, Chief Festus Ochonogor, said government would continued to interface with the unions in the development of the state.

Responding, Governor Okowa who was visibly excited by the overwhelming support of members of the unions, promised to construct more roads and embark on major projects that would transform the lives of the people.

The Governor enjoined them to come out enmass and mobilise voters for the PDP in the gubernatorial election, even as he highlighted the importance of both unions to the growth of the economy and the development of the state.

It would be recalled that Governor Okowa also in 2015 met with the unions prior to his election into office.
