The Delta State Directorate of Transport has embarked on the enforcement of traffic rules and regulations on motorists in the state capital, Asaba.
The exercise also saw to the dislodgement of persons trading on walkways and other unauthorized placed in Asaba.
The enforcement team was led by the Commissioner for transport, Sir Vincent Uduaghan, who was represented by the Director in charge of Road Transportation, Engineer Victor Omoniyi.
The operation started at Summit road where some defaulers were apprehended for driving against traffic, taxi cab colour violation, illegal parking and trading on prohibited places.
Addressing the defaulters, Sir Uduaghan said the Directorate would not succumb to intimidation in its quest for sanity on the road.
At Koka junction on the Benin-Asaba highway, tricycle operators and motorists drove against traffic and violated other traffic laws were brought to book.
The team was also at the Ezenei axis of the state capital where it found use tricycles displayed for sale on the walkways.
The Transport Commissioner cautioned the owner and advised him to desist from the illegal act.
At the Ogbeogonogo market axis traffic law offenders were reprimanded and those trading on the street advised to relocate.
Sir Uduaghan said the Directorate would continue to sensitized the people on the need to obey traffic laws.
The commissioner who was accompanied by the Director in charge of the Vehicle Inspection Office, Mr. Oyakemagbeigha Ezonebi, noted the flagrant disrespect for traffic laws by some residents of Asaba oland the environs and stressed the need for all to be law abiding.
