PDP WINS PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN 23 OUT OF THE 25 LGAs OF DELTA STATE

Collation of last Saturday’s presidential election results from the 25 local government areas of Delta state by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has ended at the commission’s headquarters in Asaba with the PDP winning in 23 local government areas.

Announcing the results the state collation officer, Professor Seth Accra Jaja, of the Niger Delta University, Otuoke Bayelsa state, said Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the PDP polled 595,608 votes , while President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC secured a total of 221,292 votes.

Professor Jaja said the number of registered voters on the state was 2,719,313, while the number of accredited voters was 891,647.

The state collation officer commended the peaceful nature of the collation exercise.

The returning officers from the local government areas had earlier submitted their reports on the presidential election to the state collation officer.

In Ughelli north PDP polled 16,140 votes, while APC got 24,193 votes.

In Sapele local government area PDP garnered 13,642 votes to beat APC to the second place with 9,776 votes.

In Ndokwa west the PDP candidate polled 20,498 voted, while APC got 3,579 votes.

PDP also won in Bomadi local government area with 62,297 votes as against APC’s 1,724 votes.

In Ndokwa east PDP secured 20,976 votes to beat APC which got 3,312 votes.

PDP also won in Warri north local government area with 25,394 votes, while APC got 12,744 votes to place second.

In Ika south the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, polled 20,080 votes, while President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC polled 6,378 votes.

PDP garnered 29,331 votes in Ika south local government area, while APC had 5,265 votes.

In Patani local government area PDP won with 17,028 votes as against APC’s 4,789 votes, while it was 12,996 votes for PDP in Aniocha north and 3,674 votes for APC.

Similarly, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP polled 19,700 votes and President Muhammadu Buhari 1,960 votes in Oshimili north local government area.

In Isoko north PDP polled 19,515 votes to beat APC which got 7,045 votes, while in Okpe it was 7,769 votes for APC and 11,167 votes PDP.

In Warri south west local government area it was 43,214 votes for APC and 81,833 for PDP.

In Burutu local government area APC polled 5,546 votes and PDP 38,543 votes, while in Isoko south APC secured 10,536 votes and PDP 19,407 votes.

In Warri south it was 10,007 votes for APC and 22,086 votes for PDP.

From the declared results from the 25 local government areas of the state APC’s Muhammadu Buhari won in two local government areas, while Atiku Abubakar of the PDP won in 23 local government areas.
