The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Delta state has released the results of last Saturday’s presidential election in ten local government areas of the state.
The results as announced at the Commission’s Collation Centre at its state headquarters I Asaba on Monday showed that in Aniocha north local government area PDP polled,12,996 votes to defeat APC which polled 3,674 votes.
In Aniocha south it was 4,770 votes for PDP and 3,239 for APC, while in Ika north east PDP garnered 29,331 votes and APC 3,674 votes.
PDP secured 20,080 votes in Ika south as against APC’s 6,378 votes, won in Oshimili north with 19,700 votes as against 1,960 votes for APC and polled 38,670 votes in Oshimili south, leaving APC with 2,635 votes.
In Patani local government area it was 17,028 votes for PDP and 4,789 for APC, in Udu council area, 10,080 votes for PDP and 9,166 votes for APC.
PDP also polled 12,712 votes in Uvwie local government area with APC trailing with 7,591 votes, while in Ethiope west it was 29,458 votes for PDP and 8,648 votes for APC.
Meanwhile, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Delta state, Dr Cyril Omprogbe, has commended all stakeholders in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly election in the state for their peaceful and orderly conduct which contributed largely to the success of the election.
Dr Omorogbe gave the commendation while speaking at the commission’s collation centre in Asaba.
The REC expressed delight in the safety of corps members and other adhoc staff deployed in the election and particularly lauded the security agencies for commitment to the successful conduct of the election.
He, however, regretted the loss of lives in some parts of the state during the election, saying that the security agencies were on the trail of perpetrators of violence during the election.
Dr Omorogbe said the sorting and counting of election results had ended in all of the 3,624 polling units, 5,863 voting points and 270 wards in the state.
