CDS Meets With Service Chiefs, Others Ahead of Elections

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Gabriel Olonisakin, has held a crucial meeting with the service chiefs, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and security chiefs.

The meeting, which took place in his office at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, was attended by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas and the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar.

Also in attendance at the meeting which reviewed the security situation and arrangements put in place to ensure the conduct of smooth and peaceful elections, were the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu; Director-General, Department of State Security (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi; Director-General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar and the Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI), Air Vice Marshall Ahmed Usman.

The meeting which started about 12:30pm on Friday, also had in attendance the chiefs of training and operations of the Army, Navy and Air Force as well as those from the Police, DSS, DIA and the

The meeting focused on final touches to the already security arrangement put in place to checkmate electoral violence before, during and after the elections.
