NSCDC, DELTA STATE COMMAND, COMMITTED TO SECURING CRITICAL NATIONAL ASSETS – Dr. Eze

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Delta state command, says it is committed to delivering its core mandate of protecting critical national assets in the state.

The State Commandant of the corps, Dr. Benito Eze, who stated this in Asaba while briefing newsmen, said the fight against illegal deals on petroleum products was being vigorously pursued with significant success.

Dr. Eze said twelve suspects were currently under arrest over the impounding of nine nine trucks each loaded with 33,000 liters of illegal petroleum products.

He said so far eleven cases of illegal petroleum products deals had been charged to court with twenty eight suspects standing trial, three convictions secured, while twelve cases were transferred to sister agencies for prosecution.

Dr. Eze pointed out that the corps was in synergy with the Federal Road Safety Corps, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Nigeria Police Force and the Military, adding that the partnership had contributed to the achievement of set goals.

The State Commandant disclosed that the corps had successfully mediated in some crisis within its area of operation through the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit of the state command.

On private security, Dr. Eze said the state command under his watch had taken steps to ensure standard in the operation of Private Guard Companies in the state and had arrested and prosecuted illegal operators to serve as a deterrent to others.

He said the command would continue to  ensure a high level of discipline among its personnel and advised them to discharge their duties with the sense of responsibility and professionalism so as to command the respect of members of the public.

Dr. Benito Eze, who is the twelfth State Commander of the Delta State Command, hails from Enugu state and is a medical doctor by profession.
