With five days to the commencement of the 2019 general elections, it has become increasingly obvious that PDP is not in the good books of Delta central.
The senatorial district, which has Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC as its representative at the Senate, is waxing strong to retain control of the area as posters of PDP candidates could hardly be found, particularly in Ughelli and Ethiopia east.
Even the high ranking government officials from the senatorial district, particularly the SSG, Honourable Festus Agas, who should be using the good work of his principal, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to nutralize the opposition, is overwhelmed by the strength of the APC in the senatorial district.
He is not known to have convened a strong stakeholders meeting in the area to canvass support for Governor Okowa or fully mobilize political appointees from Delta central to keep the APC in check.
Honourable Agas’ inability to market the Okowa administration in Delta central appears to have been worsened by the apparent vote of no confidence in him and the government he serves by the people, with his brother as a member of the opposition APC.
The only hope for the PDP government in the state is the developmental strides of the Okowa administration which are firmly on ground in Delta central and indeed all parts of the state.
It is expected of the people of Delta central to consider the score card of the Governor and the gentleman rotation agreement for the governorship seat from which they had benefitted and vote for the PDP.
They should overlook the failure of some of their sons and daughters in government and follow the path of equity, justice and fairness for the overall good of the state.
