Women in the state have been asked to remain resolute in their support for the People’s Democratic Party and its candidates for the forthcoming elections.
The Leader of the Peace Ladies Organisation of Nigeria for Okowa, Mrs Nelly Obi, who made the call during a rally in Asaba, said there was no alternative to PDP, as the party was blessed with credible candidates with sterling leadership qualities.
Mrs Obi noted that women had always been in the forefront of politics in the country and called on Delta women to use their numerical strength and activism to mobilize support for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and all other PDP candidates for the February 16 and March 2 elections.
She said the huge success of the recently concluded campaign rallies across the state was indicative of the certainty that the PDP in the state would deliver all its candidates, but advised women not to relent in canvassing door to door support until victory was achieved.
Mrs Obi stressed the need for all eligible voters to jealously guard their Permanent Voter Cards PVCs, vote right and protect their votes.
She commended Governor Okowa for being a good ambassador of the Anioma nation through the robust implementation of the SMART agenda of his administration which had earned him numerous awards.
Mrs Obi assured the Governor of the continued support of the group before, during and after the elections.
