Anambra Loses Over N6Billion To Revenue Fraudsters Yearly – Madubuko

Anambra state Commissioner for Trade, Market and Wealth Creation, Dr. Christian Madubuko, says the state is losing over six billion naira to illegal revenue collectors yearly.

Dr. Madubuko, disclosed this in Awka when his men apprehended some illegal revenue collectors at Afor-Igwe Market Umudioka, Dunukofia Council Area.

The Commissioner, who decried the ugly activities of illegal revenue collectors despite warnings from the government, said with internally generated revenue, government would continue to improve the lives of the citizenry .

He said the Obiano administration had sensitized some stakeholders on the dangers of illegal collection of revenue but alleged that some Presidents General of communities were deeply involved in sending their boys to markets for revenue drive without remitting same to the government.

Dr. Madubuko stated that it would no longer be business as usual, stressing that those apprehended would be dealt with to serve as deterrent to others.

The Commissioner maintained that his Ministry would this year expand and develop markets, increase IGR to an appreciable level, and relate well with Ndi Anambra in such a way that the traders would be happy with the present administration.

Dr Madubuko stated that more measures would be put in place to discourage diversion of revenue urging traders to be alive to their responsibilities.

Those apprehended have been detained at the State Police Command, Awka.
