AKWA IBOM : APC Flags Off Governorship Campaign, Promises Economic Development

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched its governorship campaigns in Uyo with the promise to bring economic prosperity to the state if the party’s governorship candidate, Mr Nsima Ekere is voted into power.

Speaking at the rally, the APC Governorship candidate in the state, Mr Nsima Ekere, said his vision was anchored on a five-point agenda if voted as the governor.

Ekere said APC led Federal Government had the most sophisticated social protection programme in the history of the country, adding that his administration would domesticate same in the state, if elected.

He said Akwa Ibom people had no business with poverty as the state was blessed with abundant human and natural resources

Ekere said APC government would return the state to the path of prosperity come May 29 when the party takes over government house.

He said athe occasion signaled the beginning of a march toward peace and development and called on the PDP to allow the people of the state to enjoy the prevailing peace in the state.

The APC governorship candidate also urged the clergy not to take sides in the politics of the state, but to continue to pray for the overall development of the country.

In his goodwill message, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo said as the heart of the South South region, Akwa Ibom had been looked upon to lead in the transformation of the region.

Obaseki expressed regret that the state experienced a downturn in development under the PDP after the boom and transformatory administration of former governor Akpabio.

The Edo governor urged Akwa Ibom people to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and Mr Nsima Ekere to ensure that the state was not left to be in the opposition.

In a remark, a former Governor of the state and ex-Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, expressed confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari would win the Presidential poll.

Akpabio urged eligible voters to vote for the APC candidates in order to return the state to the centre of Nigerian politics.
