OKOWA PROMISES MORE YOUTH ORIENTED PROGRAMMES IN SECOND TERM

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has promised that his second tenure in office will witness more entrepreneurial programmes and youth empowerment.

The Governor made the promise at PDP campaign rallies in Asaba,in Oshimili south  and Akwukwu-Igbo, in Oshimili north local government areas.

In Asaba the csmpaign rally witnessed a large turnout of supporters and residents of the area who came out in their thousands to show solidarity with the Governor.

Addressing the rally, Governor Okowa said his administration was committed to further developing the state capital and promised more landmark projects  when reelected.

He specifically cited the completion of the Stephen Keshi Stadium as a major achievement of his administration, pointing out that had not only changed the face of Asaba, but had positioned the Asaba stadium to play host to more international matches and sporting activities.

The Governor said he had surpassed his campaign promises to residents of Asaba, especially development of infrastructure and appealed to the people to appreciate his administration with a hundred percent vote in the elections.

Other speakers at the rally, including the immediate past state chairman of PDP, Chief Edwin Uzor, member representing Oshimili south in the State Assembly, Honourable Peter Onwusanya, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, the state PDP chairman, Barrister Kingsley Esiso, the Deputy DG of the state PDP Campaign Council, Prince Ned Nwoko and the DG, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon  enumerated the projects to the credit of the Governor to include the storm water drainage project, the construction and renovation of over eighty roads, the upgrade of facilities in primary and secondary schools.

Others are the upgrade of the Asaba Airport, the completion of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, the construction of hospitals, job and wealth creation programmes, the contributory health scheme and the payment of five thousand naira monthly to twenty widows in every ward in the state.

At Akwukwu-Igbo, Governor Okowa said he was optimistic of victory at the polls especially in the local government area said to be a stronghold of the opposition APC.

He called on people of the area to mobilise voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs to enable them beat the 2015 record of votes in the 2019 elections.

Other speakers, including Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Prince Ned Nwoko, and Chief Austin Izagbor, said Governor Okowa should focus his campaigns on other senatorial districts because Delta north was one hundred percent for him.
